Gharnia

Friday I night I took a group of vols to a bar in Tamale that I’d never been to have meant to for ages. It’s way out of town but it’s the swankiest bar in Tamale. It has a pool table, nice tables and chairs, a proper bar with bottles of smirnoff, baileys and flavoured vodkas on glass shelves. The air-con works and it feels like a bar in London. It’s almost surreal to find it in Tamale. One of the women I was with described the experience as being as if we’d stepped through a magic wardrobe into a different place, a place called “Gharnia”.
