The Weather

9 01 2008

The last few days in Tamale have got a fair bit colder. Not that anyone shivering in Europe or the US would consider it cold, I’m still happy in t-shirt and shorts, but the locals are starting to wrap up and whinge about the cold. It’s dropping to about 15C (60F) at night struggles to reach 30C (about 90F) during the day. That counts as bitter weather here. For me this is bliss. There is no humidity whatsoever (my washing is starting to dry before I’ve got it out of the water), the sky is blue, a cool wind is gently putting fine red dust absolutely everywhere. The dust is the only drawback. My nose is permanently clogged with it and everything is covered by a fine layer. The evenings are the worst time, it looks like a fog but tastes like dust. Despite that the cloudless skies show a wonderful display of stars.
